The Greens at Long Run Park

About the Area

The Greens at Long Run Park is located in Middletown at Eastwood and is situated on the Southfield property which was deeded to Jefferson County government to be used as a training facility by the Jefferson County police department and was set up as a trust for that purpose. The police department conducted all of its training for new recruits, veteran officers, and driving and firearm training at the 60 acre location. When the city and county governments merged in 2003 the mayor decided he would sell the property as surplus. Located on the site is a small private cemetery with gravesites to the mid 1800's.

The site is located 2.5 miles from Shelbyville Road which is 3.4 miles to I 265 or 2 miles in the opposite direction to the Jefferson/Shelby County line. It is located across the street from Long Run Park, a 416 county park established in 1960 with a 28 acre fishing lake, tennis and volleyball courts, splash park, biking paths, horseback riding trails, picnic tables with a shelter and a playground. A public golf course opened in 1963 for 9 holes, was upgraded to 18 holes in 1984 with a 6000 sq ft clubhouse opening in 2007. The clubhouse features a 1900 sq foot covered patio while the golf course has a pro on site and offers a 3 hole youth golf course. The stone entrances to the Greens are directly across the street from the golf course entrance.
